Universal Breathing - Pranayama App Reviews

Doesnt run in background

This is a great app. I use it every day. As others have written, the biggest flaw in this app is that it will not continue to run if you lock your screen or open a different app.

Work out the bugs and its a 10!

The touch controls to stop or pause are not responsive about 80% of the time. The controls for background music do not work at all. The foreground sounds all sound the same with very slight variation. It also is not distinct enough at breaks to tell when to switch to exhale or inhale etc. This could be an outstanding app but its got some huge issues!

Nice and useful idea and app, but

1. Once you launch app, landing screen appears. Nice smooth resolution. But only for couple seconds. Than resolution drops and looks like whole screen gets some technical glitch. It kinda zooms in and drops the resolution. App starts and everything looks BAD. No smooth lines - squared lines everywhere. Need a fix. 2. Developer is too greedy or I dont understand something. Been with this app since the first one for iPhone. Loved it. Bought full version. Than new apps came in for iPad, HD version for iPad, than this one universal. Simple upgrades given to you as new paid app. Cmon, why do I have to pay again for what I already paid. Doesnt it make more sense to release an upgrade rather than a new app with Exactly same functionality under modified name and sell it again?

Great App!

Very helpful to relax, helps you overcome your insomnia and get to sleep

Moo-tastic!

This app cured what mooed me. The graphics are very sharp, but the sounds are really where the difference comes in. Sometimes I become too relaxed and fall asleep - any time of the day! Buckaroo.

very soothing

everything about this app is well-designed. The colors, the music...it helps me relax and strengthen my diaphragm so I can run better. Great app to use in the morning before a workout!

Really great breathing technique instruction

Exceptional

Amazing

Same company offers better app

Very annoying to find out that this company offers a better version of the same app, under a different name, at a cheaper price.

Childrens version?

Love this! It would be great if you had a version for young children. They are following along with me, but the breaths are a little too long for their smaller lungs.

Incorrect ratios!!

This app is good if you down load the full version for making your own ratios. The issue with this app is that the ratios given in the free version and the full are incorrect. You would have to change the retention on the exhale to advanced and retention on the inhale to beginner. basically, inhale, retain then exhale, "beginner". Advanced would be, inhale, retain, exhale, retain. For the price you pay, you do not get guidance on Kapalbhati, Bhastrika, sheetali, seetkari and a basic ujjayi pranayama.

Perfect

Use it daily to meditate, best pranayama app. Perfect for yogis of all levels.

Love it!!!

Great meditation app. I am new to meditation, so the different levels are very helpful. I especially like that I can create my own custom session. Helps me relax after a stressful work day. :)

Not what I expected

Doesnt teach you anything. Just demonstrates 2 or 3 techniques and times it for you. Thats it. Left me with more questions than answers. As a tutorial its useless. As a glorified stopwatch its just ok. This app should be .99. It doesnt do anything to merit its price tag. I really regret wasting the money. Dont make the same mistake.

Breathe Like a Freak

I have used much better breathing apps. This one has freaky graphics, weird invisibility option, bad music, and a little un-relaxing to me to have a stop breathing button.

The Art of Breathing

Its not perfect, what in life is? Custom settings allow me to get the ratios dialed in just as I like. I enjoy the music, tones and animations. Thanks for making this, Im sure minor tweaks and improvements are on the way :)

Description is a bit disingenuous...

I enjoy the breathing exercises this app provides and get much benefit out of them but I also agree with one of the previous reviewers that the retention or sustained breaths should come after inhaling and before exhaling in beginner mode. The developers of this app make another app that is almost identical to this one for a dollar cheaper that has the retention flipped the correct way. It boggles my mind why they even have two apps so similar at different prices to begin with. Perhaps they should combine their efforts into one solid app. I bought this app over the other app (after trying the free versions of both) because it said it had support for the Retina display on the new iPad but it doesnt. Id even go so far as to say that while neither of the two apps are truly taking advantage of the Retina display, the other app actually looks better on it while this is the one that claims to be updated to take advantage of it. Thats the part I find most disingenuous. I want to love this app and give it five stars but the developers have me scratching my head and questioning their true motives by some of their choices and actions.

I love this app!

I use this every night before I go to sleep to wind down. Id rate it 5 stars if it enabled multitasking so that it could run on the background :D

Love it

Favorite app. Very useful for relaxation and at night to help with insomnia.

Used to be good

This app used to be great... I say used to be because now there is no sound what so ever. Highly disappointed
